Friday the 13th Part 10: Jason X (2001)

Director: James Isaac

Starring: Kane Hodder, Jeff Geddis, Lexa Doig, David Cronenberg, Markus Parilo, Jonathan Potts, Lisa Ryder, Dov Tiefenbach, Chuck Campbell

More info: IMDb

Tagline: Evil Gets An Upgrade

Plot: In the future, Earth is no longer inhabitable. A school field trip leads the class and a few marine grunts to the remains of Camp Crystal Lake where they discover two cryogenically frozen bodies, one of a beautiful young woman, and the other, a vaguely familiar looking man in a hockey mask and carrying a machete in his right hand. The group decides to bring the bodies back for testing and re-animation. But what was the first mistake, bringing the two bodies back with them or thawing them out so that the unstoppable Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) can return again to wreak havoc and murder everyone in his sight? But what if Jason was upgraded, making him more dangerous than he ever was before?

My rating: 6/10

Will I watch it again? Probably not but who knows.

How cool is it that David Cronenberg stars in this as an evil doctor?  This movie is so damn retarded it's hilarious.  Jason in space?  Ridiculous concept but where else are they going to go with this character?  Fuck it.  Put him in a space ship.  Classic.  What's this, Robo Jason?  Fuck it.  Let's make him a cyborg.  On one hand it doesn't feel like a FRIDAY THE 13th movie but on the other, if this is the best they can do then let's end it.  Despite its flaws, I did enjoy it on some goofy, dumb level.  It's been one rollercoaster of a ride with this franchise. Now I've only got one more and I'm done, FREDDY VS. JASON (2003).
