Lifeforce (1985)

Director: Tobe Hooper

Starring: Steve Railsback, Mathilda May, Peter Firth, Frank Finlay, Patrick Stewart, Michael Gothard, Nicholas Ball, Aubrey Morris, Nancy Paul

More info: IMDb

Tagline: In outer space they unleashed a force more evil than the world had ever imagined!

Plot: Halley's Comet returns to the solar system and the English/American team aboard the shuttle "Churchill", making a close-up survey of the comet, discovers an alien spacecraft in the head of the comet. Inside the spacecraft are some large bat-like creatures and in three cocoons are three "dead" humans - two men and a woman. The "Churchill" takes the humans and a creature back to Earth. There the bosses of the project are amazed to find the shuttle burnt out and all but one of the crew - Carlsen - dead. The humans from the spacecraft suddenly awake and all those who come into contact with them are drained of their "lifeforce" and in time all the victims - including most of the population of London - are turned into zombies all preying on the horrified survivors for their "lifeforce". It's up to Carlsen and Major Caine of the SAS to stop them before the whole world turns into a big blood-hunt.

My rating: 7/10

Will I watch it again? Yeah, but only after the eventual/hopeful Blu-ray comes out.

#225 on Drive-In Delirium Volume 2 (part of the TRAILER TRASH PROJECT)

There's only one true reason to watch this movie and anyone who's seen it will attest to that fact.

It's directed by some guy who did TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974) (I love you, Tobe Hooper).

It's about space vampires...

The special effects are sometimes great and others dodgy...

Patrick Stewart's in it for a few minutes with more hair than we're used to...

The first half has a few drawn out, slow spots but the second half picks up with lots of action...

Henry Mancini's main theme IS FUCKING BALLS-OUT, OFF THE CHARTS, INSANELY AWESOME!!!

But when it comes down to it...Mathilda May is completely naked for nearly the ENTIRE FUCKING MOVIE!

UPDATE: I've gotten several requests to show Mathilda May again.  Here you go, fellas!
