Tagline: The Devil took her for his lover! Her body is possessed, her soul is next!

My rating: 7/10

Will I watch it again? Yeah, but only when a widescreen print turns up

WOW! I didn't expect this to happen. ABBY (aka THE BLAXORCIST (love that title) is a damn good Exorcist clone! Too bad the only print that seems to be out there is a washed-out fullscreen one. Ugh but that didn't stop me from having a great time. I like Carol Speed (Abby). I've seen five of her nine movies and she always turns in a very likable performance. Too bad she didn't do more. William Marshall's commanding voice adds a lot to this picture. He's fantastic as the priest who saves the day. The dialogue between him and Speed during the climactic exorcism is great and whoever did her possessed voice was equally fun and talented. The sound design was unexpectedly of high quality as was everything else. You can tell that everyone set out to make a good movie and not some low budget Blaxploitation quickie out to make a few fast dollars. Now where the hell is a DVD of this that's worthy of the film?
