I Dismember Mama (1972)

Director: Paul Leder

Starring: Zooey Hall, Geri Reischl, Joanne Moore Jordan, Greg Mullavey

More info: IMDb

Tagline: Albert hated women. It started with his mother. Albert got a knife...Poor women...Poor Albert!

Plot: When he escapes from a mental ward, deeply repressed Albert (Hall) begins a hunt for his snobbish mother, whom he blames for his incarceration. Meanwhile, he embarks on a sexually charged killing spree of women he thinks are tramps. Oddly, he takes a shine to Annie (Reischl), the daughter of his mother's housekeeper, and determines to protect her from immoral influences, whatever the cost.

My rating: 3/10

Will I watch it again? Oh, please.

#6 on 42nd Street Forever Vol. 1 (part of the TRAILER TRASH PROJECT)

I doubt even a nice, widescreen print could have saved this one. The music just doesn't fit and sounded like most of it belonged in a TV sitcom. Oddly enough, after watching it, I see that the composer, Herschel Burke Gilbert, did some TV work throughout the 60s. The picture's just slow and dull. There are a couple of scenes that were done very well like when Albert is talking to Annie (a 12 year old girl whose mother he just raped and murdered) about all kinds of happy things when they're on a little boat in a pond at the park. We get flashes of the violence he committed against her mother just hours before (scenes we hadn't witnessed previously). THAT was cool. So what else was there?

That's it. A few boobs and 81 minutes later, I'm starving and I need to split. Woof.
