The Gauntlet (1977)

Director: Clint Eastwood

Starring: Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke, Pat Hingle, William Prince, Bill McKinney

More info: IMDb

Tagline: Clint Eastwood is the man in the middle of The Gauntlet

Plot: A hard but mediocre cop is assigned to escort a prostitute into custody from Las Vegas to Phoenix, so that she can testify in a mob trial. But a lot of people are literally betting that they won't make it into town alive.

My rating: 6.5/10

Will I watch it again? Yeah.

With the obscene amount of bullets thrown at Eastwood you'd think that this were a cartoon. Despite that over-the-top aspect, it's still a great deal of fun. Eastwood's the reason to watch it (or for Sondra Locke's bare chest...no, Eastwood's the reason to watch it). If you like his 70s action pictures you'll dig this one. It's ridiculous like nobody's business but it works and it's not a bad way to kill a surprisingly fast near two hours. And how about that poster art? I miss the days before brainless marketing morons stopped letting folks create a reason to see the movie based solely on the poster.
