Golgo 13: Kowloon Assignment (1977)

Director: Yukio Noda

Starring: Sonny Chiba

More Info: IMDB

Tagline: A master assassin, bent on blood!

Plot: Blood for Money! Sonny Chiba is "Golgo 13", a cold, calculating, ruthless assassin, working for the U.S. drug syndicate. His assignment: "take-out" Hong Kong's underworld kingpin. His only obstacle: a relentless cop, determined to stop him - no matter what the cost. The result is an explosive adventure through the seamy, violent streets of Hong Kong.

My Rating: 6.5/10

Would I watch it again? meh

I loves me some Chiba. Watch him his 70s STREET FIGHTER series and you'll be instantly sold. He's THE 70s Japanese badass. So naturally, it's a treat to watch any of his action films of the 70s, right?

I'm at a loss for words for once so I'm just going to throw down some pix.

Well, I had very high expectations for GOLGO 13. Too high, I suppose. Yeah, it's a pretty good movie in many ways but I guess I just wanted more Chiba asskickery. The physical stuff. The ripping limbs off with his bare hands kind of thing. Without any of that it just dragged. That's my fault. It just didn't grab me like I wanted. I feel sad now. Damn.

Oh, if you do watch this, DO NOT watch the English dub. It's horrendous. Go with the original Japanese dub with English subs. VIVA CHIBA!
